Dog Licenses

All dogs in the town must be registered annually. A license will be issued only if the owner has evidence of a rabies vaccination that is valid as of the date of issuance. 

  • All new dogs must be licensed by 6 months of age regardless of the licensing cycle.
  • Licenses are issued from January 1 - April 1 for the license period of April 1 - March 31.
  • License Fee is $20.00 for male or female, and $15.00 for spayed or neutered.
  • The late fee is $75 per dog as per MGL Ch. 140, Sec 141 and the code of Pepperell.

    Kennel Licenses


    If you own four or more dogs, you must obtain a kennel license. The animal control officer must inspect your home before the license is issued. Kennel license fees are $40 for 4 dogs, $70 for 5-9 dogs and $100 for 10 dogs or more.

    Annual Rabies Clinic
    There is an annual rabies clinic on the first Saturday in April sponsored by the Board of Health for all cats and dogs. The clinic is held at the Jersey Street fire station from 9-12. Licenses can be obtained at the clinic. 
    Leash Law
    The Town does not have a leash law.
