PRESENT:      Selectmen Joseph A. Sergi, Patrick J. McNabb and Joseph Hallisey; Peggy Mazzola, Interim Town Administrator; Town Administrator John Moak

The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM.

OLD BUSINESS/NEW BUSINESS:

Item #1: Discussion – letters to officials regarding funding: A brief discussion was held regarding letters prepared by Mr. Moak to Sen. Panagiotakos, Rep. Hargraves, and the NVTHS and NMRSD School Committees.  Mr. Sergi had some edits to the letters; it was agreed that the Board will provide Mr. Moak with comment via e-mail with the intent being to put the letters in the mail by Monday.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: At 6:43 PM, Mr. Hallisey moved that the Board of Selectmen enter into an Executive Session for the purpose of conducting contract negotiations with Lt. David Scott for the position of Interim Police Chief.  Mr. McNabb seconded.  Mr. Sergi announced that the Board would adjourn following the executive session, and that Town Administrator John Moak, Lt. David Scott, and Peggy Mazzola, Administrative Assistant, would be included in the session.  A roll call vote was taken as follows:

            Patrick McNabb                        Aye

            Joseph Hallisey             Aye

The Board spent a considerable amount of time in discussions relative to the draft contract, using Chief Davis’ contract as a template.  Lt. Scott was invited to join the meeting at 7:32 PM.  Modifications were made to the existing contract document based on discussions between Lt. Scott and the Board. A tentative agreement was reached to move forward with a contract with Lt. Scott for the position of Police Chief.  The Board informed Lt. Scott they would forward the draft contract to Labor Counsel for review and comment.

At 9:17 PM Mr. Hallisey moved that the Board of Selectmen exit the Executive Session and adjourn.  Mr. McNabb seconded the motion.  A roll call vote was taken as follows:
