About the E.M.A. Emergency Response Unit:

The Emergency Response Unit is an operational unit of the Emergency Management Agency, providing auxiliary communications resources and specialized equipment as needed for response and recovery operations. This unit hosts the local arm of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, or R.A.C.E.S., which is made up strictly of volunteers with an interest and/or expertise in amateur radio communications working together to provide rapid information in the case of an emergency. The ERU also provides support for other agencies, with lighting, generators, pumps and other specialized resources

 

Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers who would like to help their community through their radio and communications expertise. If you have an interest in communications, in the areas of:

  • Amateur radio (R.A.C.E.S)
  • Skywarn (storm tracking information)
  • Citizens Band, GMRS & FRS
  • Computers and computer networking
  • Emergency power, lighting, generator & pump operation
