Annual Used Book Sale - March 12 - March 14 Friends of Lawrence Library Join the Friends of the Lawrence Library for their Annual Used Book Sale at the Sis McGrath Community Center near the rotary in Pepperell center. Thousands of gently used books will be available at very low prices, with proceeds to benefit the Friends of the Lawrence Library. Music & Magic of Ireland, an Irish Magic Show - - Saturday, March 13 at 2:00pm Lawrence Library Irish-born folk singer, Tom O’Carroll and his wife, Debbie, a magician, will present a delightful magic show that introduces young audiences to the culture of Ireland. Prepare to be amazed by the magic; enchanted by the music, songs and poetry; and laugh uproariously at the comedy. Jonathan Edwards Trio to benefit Project Graduation - March 13 at Nissitissit Middle School Project Graduation Parent Group National known recording artist, Jonathan Edwards (www.jonathanedwards.net), will be performing with the Jonathan Edwards Trio on March 13 in a fundraiser concert presented by the Project Graduation Parent Group. The show will be at Nissitissit Middle School at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25 each and are available at the North Middlesex Regional High School, at the Pepperell Music Center, and other locations in Townsend (Evans on the Common, The Townsend House Tavern, Klever Klippers Hair Salon) and Ashby (31 Store). Drum Away the Blues ~ Music and Rhythms of the Celtic Isles - March 17 at 7:00pm Lawrence Library Stress relief through percussion - a special St. Patrick's Day program. Using hand drums and assorted percussion instruments, music educator/percussionist Craig Harris provides adults and children with a key to stress relief and the tools for emotional balance. Click on Event Calendar. 4th Annual Used Bike Sale & 3rd Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale - April 17 Friends of Pepperell The Friends of Pepperell invite everyone to shop ‘till they drop Saturday April 17. The group will hold its 4th Annual (gently) Used Bike Sale on the basketball court at the Community Center from 9am-1pm. And, shop the Town Field, 7am-1pm and neighboring streets for even more great deals during the 3rd Annual Town Wide Yard Sale throughout the day. Bike donations will be accepted now through the start of the sale and tax donation receipts are available. Bikes of all sizes, scooters, accessories, trailers, and racks can be dropped-off at 152 Heald Street or can arrange pick up by calling 978-835-0133. Historically, we start the day with over 150 bikes- trikes, toddler bikes, with training wheels… and without, as well as adult sizes. Bike types include mountain, road, BMX, all name brands to choose from--Trek, Specialized, Mongoose, Schwinn and many more. Sale starts at 9a.m., be there on the dot for the best selection. All unsold bicycles will be donated to the Worcester Earn A Bike program. Got stuff? Have a yard sale at your house or bring it to the Town Field and set up there. Last year we had over 100 yard sales all over town. Join your friends and neighbors in this community event while cleaning out and earning a little extra cash. All Yard Sale registrants will receive a brightly colored and numbered sign to display at their address for easy recognition for the many yard salers out shopping on Saturday! This year’s TWYS publicity will include newspaper ads, signs about town, and yard stakes. Other ideas welcomed! Want stuff? It’s super simple to get around as part of our fundraising efforts is the sale of a map at the community center on TWYS day, plan your route and go. Squanicook Colonial Quilt Guild - Opening March 20 The Friends of Lawrence Library are proud to present the annual exhibition of the Squanicook Colonial Quilt Guild. The theme for this year's show is "Colors from Your Crayon Box." Come meet the talented quilters and enjoy light refreshments (sponsored by the Friends of the Library) at a opening reception on Saturday, March 20 from 12:00 noon -2:00pm. Indian Hill Music in March Orchestra of Indian Hill presents Bela Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra" The Orchestra of Indian Hill presents an engaging on-stage preview and analysis, then full performance of this important 20th Century masterwork. The concert will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, March 13 at the Littleton Performing Arts Center. The Lydian String Quartet continues Indian Hill Chamber Music Series at the Kalliroscope Gallery in Groton on Saturday, March 27 at 8:00pm, with works by Beethoven, Faure, and Thomas Oboe Lee. There's also lots of music at Blackman Hall: a Pajama Jam for families on Friday, March 5 at 6:30pm; a faculty recital by piano faculty member, Michelle Kelley, performing music of contemporary Boston area composers - John Craig Cooper, Marti Epstein, Donal Fox, Ruth Lomon, John McDonald, and Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee on Saturday, March 6 at 7:30 pm; a Teen Open Mic on Friday, March 12 at 7:00pm; a voice soiree from Indian Hill Music School Voice Department students performing songs celebrating laughter and humor on Friday, March 26 at 7:30 pm; a faculty recital by Indian Hill Music School piano faculty member Marianna Rashkovetsky, offering an all-Chopin program on Sunday, March 28 at 3:00 pm.
