Change of Polling Location for the Town of Pepperell

In accordance with Section 11 of Chapter 115 of the Acts of 2020 the Town Clerk of the Town of Pepperell has requested that the location of the Town’s polling place be re-located from Varnum Brook Elementary School to the Peter Fitzpatrick Collaborative Cafeteria.

The new location at Peter Fitzpatrick Collaborative has been thoroughly vetted to ensure that not only is it fully accessible, but during this pandemic, it can be safe for all, voters and election workers, on Election Day. The Board of Selectmen, along with the Town Clerk, ensure that the cafeteria at Peter Fitzpatrick can accommodate social distancing requirements and will clearly denote six foot markers for voters entering, voters in line for check in and check out as well as space between marking booths.

Further, the Board of Selectmen would like to also acknowledge that the decision to change the Town’s polling location will not have disparate adverse impact on access to the polls on the basis of race, national origin, disability, income or age. In December of 2019, Bridget Simmons Murphy from the Elections Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts conducted a review of the proposed facility and approved the use of this facility for a polling place.

Based on this information, the Board of Selectmen, at a meeting held remotely on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 7:00PM, voted in favor of the change of the polling location for the Town of Pepperell. The Board agrees that this change in location is in accordance with Section 11 of Chapter 115 of the Acts of 2020 and will not have an adverse impact on the voters of the Town of Pepperell.
