Mandatory ban on all outside water use.

NOTICE - MANDATORY BAN ON ALL OUTSIDE WATER USE

THE TOWN OF PEPPERELL HAS INSTITUTED AN OUTDOOR WATER BAN IN EFFECT FROM AUGUST 17TH UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALL NON-ESSENTIAL OUTDOOR WATER USE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: WATERING LAWNS, WASHING VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT, FILLING/TOPPING OF POOLS, ETC… IS PROHIBITED. HAND WATERING OF VEGETABLE GARDENS IS PERMISSIBLE.

THIS CONSERVATION MEASURE IS DUE TO THE EXTREME DROUGHT CONDITIONS CURRENTLY IMPACTING MIDDLESEX COUNTY, AND IS NECESSARY TO ENSURE ADEQUATE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLIES FOR DOMESTIC USE, HEALTH CARE AND FIRE PROTECTION. COMPLIANCE WITH THIS BAN IS INTENDED TO AVOID A SITUATION WHERE THE TOWN MAY NEED TO ENACT FURTHER AND MORE STRINGENT CONSERVATION MEASURES TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE OUR WATER SUPPLY AND INFRASTRUCTURE.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS BAN COULD RESULT IN FINES OF UP TO $500 FOR EACH DAY OF VIOLATION OR SUSPENSION OF WATER SERVICE. PLEASE SEE THE TOWNS WEBSITE ( https://town.pepperell.ma.us ) FOR MORE DETAILS.

WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR COOPERATION AND PATIENCE. THE WATER DEPT WILL INFORM CUSTOMERS OF ANY CHANGES IN THIS SITUATION. PLEASE NOTE THAT WHILE THE BAN IS FORMALLY LIMITED TO PEPPERELL PUBLIC WATER CUSTOMERS, WE ENCOURAGE ALL RESIDENTS WITH PRIVATE WELLS OR IRRIGATION WELLS TO ADOPT THESE MEASURES AS THE DROUGHT HAS ALREADY IMPACTED SEVERAL OF THESE WELLS. PLEASE CALL THE WATER DEPT AT 978-433-0359 OR EMAIL WATER@TOWN.PEPPERELL.MA.US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS BAN.
