Effective July 1st, the Pepperell DPW is lifting the mandatory outdoor water use restrictions. This is due in large part to returning the Bemis Well to service, as well as more regular precipitation events which have eased drought conditions in MA. The DEP-mandated odd/even schedule for outdoor water use remains in place for irrigation. Please be reminded that the town supports water conservation measures throughout the year, and reserves the right to reinstitute the mandatory ban should the water supply situation deteriorate in the future.
The Pepperell Water Division would like to thank everyone who observed the ban and complied with these restrictions, as it allowed the town to successfully navigate a critical period of high demand on our water system while having limited production facilities in operation.
Please note that due to PFAS-related concerns, the DPW intends to keep the Nashua Road well offline to the greatest extent practicable, and to operate this facility only in the event of an extreme demand on the system.
