Beginning August 14th, National Grid (NGrid) will be replacing approximately 3,200 feet of 8-inch gas main and associated services on a section of Lowell Road (Rte 113). This work will extend from just west of East Street to the NGrid transmission facility located just west of Adams Street. The bulk of the work is expected to primarily impact the inbound lane.
Typical work hours are anticipated to be 7-4, Mon – Sat, but extended hours may be required on occasion to ensure the ‘same-day’ completion of certain critical operations. The project is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete.
Lowell Road will remain open to thru traffic during construction. Police details will be onsite daily to facilitate traffic, but delays should be expected. School buses and emergency vehicles will be given priority access. People using Lowell Road during work hours are encouraged to consolidate vehicle trips to minimize unnecessary travel, and alternate routes may be advisable.
NGrid will work directly with impacted residents to accommodate daily access to/from their property while construction occurs in front of their homes/driveways. They are also responsible for restoration of any areas disturbed as part of the construction. Any questions regarding this utility project should be sent directly to NGrid: Donaldo Estevam – Senior Construction Supervisor; 978-941-2834; Donaldo.estevam@nationalgrid.com
