Water Chestnut treatment in Nashua River

Water Chestnut in this portion of the Nashua River have been/will be treated on July 25-Aug 1 AND Aug 13-17 (pending weather).

Treatment of the water chestnuts in the Nashua River will take place between the Main Street bridge in Pepperell and the Rte. 119 Bridge over the Nashua River in Groton and Pepperell. We ask that people refrain from using this section of the river during the treatment. Motor boat traffic could create wakes which could wash the herbicides off the leaves and this is a foliar (leaf application) treatment. Treatment will not take place during rainy conditions. There will be two treatments, as noted on the poster.

This project is funded and managed by the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Questions may be directed to Paula Terrasi, Conservation Administrator at 978-433-0325.
