📢 Pepperell Transfer Station Update:  

Annual window permits for the April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 period will be available for renewal and purchase at the Transfer Station starting Saturday, February 28, 2026.  

Important Details for Applicants:

Processing & Pickup

  • There is a $1 handling fee for Transfer Station applications that are received online or via USPS mail.
  • Once processed, issued permits will not be mailed to the applicant.
  • Applicants will be notified when their permit is ready to be picked up at the Transfer Station.
  • Issued permits must be picked up at the Transfer Station office during regular business hours.

On‑Site Purchases

  • As always, permits may be purchased directly at the Transfer Station.
  • Cash or checks are the only accepted forms of payment at this location.

Transfer Station Rules

  • Transfer Station Permits are valid from April 1st through March 31st the following year (April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027).
  • Transfer Station Permits shall be displayed in a convenient visible location and solidly affixed to the registered vehicle at time of purchase. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • A properly affixed, valid permit is required to access all Transfer Station services, including recycling, bulky disposal, demo, etc. Please speak with a Transfer Station attendant or visit our website Items Accepted for a Fee for pricing.
  • Access to the Transfer Station may be denied if a valid permit is not affixed to the issued registered vehicle and easily visible.
  • Transfer Station Permits are nontransferable and nonrefundable.
  • It is expected that all Transfer Station users will cooperate with this requirement.
  • Violators of Transfer Station rules may have Transfer Station privileges revoked (loss of permit) without refund and be required to appear before the Board of Public Works to request reinstatement of privileges and purchase of a new permit.

Pay As You Throw (PAYT)

  • All trash must be secured in an Official Pepperell Transfer Station Purple Bag or have an Official Pepperell Trash Bag Tag affixed to the outside of each bag.
  • No loose trash please! Loose trash is not permitted! See an attendant to dispose of items that won’t fit in an approved bag.
  • Official Purple Bags are available for purchase at the Transfer Station only.
  • Official Pepperell Transfer Station Bag Tags are available for purchase at the Transfer Station and the following locations:
    • Pepperell Quality Market 75 Main St. 
    • Lorden Hardware 53 Main St.
    • Pepperell Family Rx 74 Main St. 

Transfer Station Information

  • The Transfer Station is owned and operated by the Town of Pepperell and operates as an Enterprise Fund — all the fees collected pay only for the operation of, and services provided by the Transfer Station. 
  • The Transfer Station represents a cost-effective alternative to curbside trash pick-up. The Transfer Station is able to keep its costs low by verifying that the Transfer Station permits are current and valid and ensuring compliance of household trash disposal. Verification of valid permits and compliance ensures that everyone is paying for their fair share.
  • Transfer Station personnel observe and administer the Transfer Station policies and rules to operate a safe and efficient facility. Your compliance and cooperation with the Transfer Station personnel carrying out their duties is greatly appreciated.

Mattress & Textile Recycling

  • Effective 11/01/22, MassDEP is requiring mattress & textile recycling. The Transfer Station accepts Mattresses and/or Box Springs for recycling for a fee.
