[ARCHIVED] Kitchen Manager/Chef Needed

Plans meals for seniors, orders food and prepares and supervises volunteers and preparation of meals. Completes paperwork for the Nutrition Program and mails and faxes it in a timely fashion. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her control; performs all other duties as required.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education, Training, and Experience:

High School Diploma. Three to five (3-5) years of training and experience in commercial food service, or any combination of training and experience. Must have Food Handlers and related Allergy Certificates.

 

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

Knowledge: Knowledge of Board of Health food and sanitation regulations. 

 

Ability: Ability to follow regulations and directions. Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos and to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to interact with elders in a sensitive manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to document and complete reports.

 

Skill: A high level of patience working with volunteers and the elderly. Skill in operating commercial kitchen equipment and office equipment.

Employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear; uses hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms as in physically picking up food, kitchen pans, and other common kitchen objects. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds such as food, supplies, etc. Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges.
