[ARCHIVED] High Temperatures Anticipated Through 6/25

For the next seven days there is a high heat advisory across the state.  Residents are encouraged to take precautionary steps.  These include:  seeking shade or staying indoors as much as possible, particularly during peak afternoon sun; staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoiding alcohol; wear loose fitting clothes with breathable material; avoiding activities that require a lot of physical exertion.  If no AC, opening windows at night will allow the cool nighttime air to reduce temperatures in your home.  Also keep an eye on pets who may also suffer from the heat.

For those of you finding the heat physically challenging you can go to Pepperell’s Albert Harris Center, also known as the senior center, as a refuge from the temperatures.  They are open Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 8:30am to 2pm, and Tuesday & Thursday from 8:30am to 4pm.  The Lawrence Library might be a good place to go and read a book.   They are open Monday through Thursday 10am – 8:30pm, Friday 10am - 5pm, and Saturday 10am – 2pm.  The library is closed on Sundays and today, Nune 18, in celebration of the Juneteenth holiday.

 Stay well
